Emotional Alchemy: Essential Oils for Stress

Emotional Alchemy: Essential Oils for Stress

Worry, stress and anxiety are sadly common battles faced day to day by most of us, largely due to major imbalances and un-sustainable work and life practices.

However, there are a critical mass of people whom are consciously awakening to these disturbing imbalances, thankfully these healers are educating, sharing and nurturing all beings and the planet so we can reawaken and strengthen our attunement with each other.

The loss of connection between people, people & animals and people & the earth… how did we lose this connection when our actual existence relies predominately on our interconnectedness?

It only makes sense that we would use botanicals (gifts from the earth in their natural form) to alleviate and support the emotional, mental and physical dis-ease created by these imbalances, if we are working towards the mass healing of the planet and all beings.

Knowing that essential oils are extracts from the flowers, leaves, roots and the bark of plants we can trust that they are a natural solution, which means supporting anxiety on a daily basis is safe and not adding to the problem.

Ensuring your oils are of the highest potency and purity is key to gaining the therapeutic support required.  If your oil or blend has been diluted with synthetics and additives it only increases your toxic load further - leading to more imbalances and hence more emotional coaster rides.

Aromatherapy has been used by the ancients for thousands of years to support physical, emotional and spiritual endeavours.  Our reawakening and scientific evidence is really aiding the critical movement of a new era of aroma for wellbeing.

In an article released by Readers Digest, Jan Stritzler from Complete Wellness NYC states "There is compelling research on the antiviral and antibacterial properties of oils as well as studies on the impact of essential oils on emotional health, including anxiety, depression, mood, and concentration.”

How does it work

Aroma is a powerful yet subtle tool to support anxiety, stress and worry.  The sense of smell is used by humans to process a huge range of information each day and can trigger powerful emotional responses.

“When the scent of an essential oil is inhaled, molecules enter the nasal cavities and stimulate a firing of mental response in the limbic system of the brain. These stimulants regulate stress or calming responses, such as heart rate, breathing patterns, production of hormones and blood pressure.” (www.draxe.com)

So the simple inhalation of one drop of oil in the palm of your hand can have a significant impact on your overall wellbeing as your cells begin to absorb the potent properties of the plant.

Use your intuition when selecting essential oils, if you like something give it a try.  When you feel anxious, stop, inhale and slow the breath - this is a wicked combination which will support and nurture your nervous system.

(If you have not attended an essential oil workshop please contact me about safety precautions as some oils are warming/spicy and can burn or irritate the skin. Dilution and safety is very important when using therapeutic grade oils.  Please note I am not a GP or making claims to prescribe oils for medical conditions - so please seek advice from you health practitioner if in doubt.)
